The Fountain School of Performing Arts houses multiple theatre stage and music concert spaces, including Halifax's new state of the art Joseph Strug Concert Hall.
Our spaces span two buildings on Dalhousie's Halifax campus, connecting via the fourth floor of each. The Dal Arts Centre entrance is at 6101 University Avenue, and the Fountain School of Performing Arts building entrance is at 1385 Seymour Street.聽

Opening its doors to the public in 2022, our new Fountain School of Performing Arts building at 1385 Seymour St. houses the 290 seat Joseph Strug Concert Hall featuring state-of-the-art acoustic design.
The easiest of our accessible spaces to find, use the 1385 Seymour St entrance.
The Sir James Dunn Theatre
Dal Arts Centre, 6101 University Ave. Halifax, NS.
Use the Dal Arts Centre main entrance and use the stairs or elevator on the left to head up to the fourth floor.
The Sir James Dunn theatre is a 198 seat聽proscenium arch聽theatre equipped with a double purchase fly system and state of the art lighting and sound systems.
The David Mack Murray Studio

Use the Dal Arts Centre main entrance, follow the main hall to the end, and use stairs on right to head down two floors.
The聽David Mack Murray Studio聽is a 80 seat聽black box聽studio with lighting and sound systems.聽
Rental Opportunties
The Fountain School of Performing Arts offers the Halifax arts community rental opportunities of its theatre, practice and workshops spaces.聽We have a dedicated music concert hall and two well-equipped performance spaces that are used for stage productions.聽
Our school is a training institution, and its spaces are staffed with our technical theatre students under the supervision of the Technical Coordinator and staff of the Fountain School.聽
During our academic year, September to April, the Sir James Dunn Theatre and the David Mack. Murray Studio are not available for rental due to Fountain School performances and classes. The Joseph Strug Concert Hall has very limited availability for the same reason.

Please note:
Rental agreements are only confirmed once a clear definition time, equipment, staff, rehearsal, performance, sound, lighting, and scenic requirements have been established, and a signed contract and retainer has been received.
